Brett Garabedian

Brett Garabedian is a Graduate Student at Scripps Research since August 2019, following an academic tenure as an Alfred Werner Scholar at the University of Basel from 2017 to August 2019. Prior experiences include positions as a Research Associate at the Joint BioEnergy Institute, focusing on enzyme variant characterization, and an Undergraduate Researcher at the Energy Biosciences Institute, working on hemicellulose quantification and gene characterization in Arabidopsis. Early career roles involved gemstone appraisal as a Resident Gemologist and academic support as a Supplemental Instruction Leader and Organic Chemistry Tutor at Santiago Canyon College. Brett Garabedian holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and two Master's degrees in Chemistry from the University of Basel. Additional qualifications include a Graduate Gemologist diploma from the Gemological Institute of America.
