Michal Kavan has a diverse work experience in the field of network security and operations. Michal started their career in 2013 at T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s. as a B2B SMC Technician. In this role, they were responsible for troubleshooting and configuring Cisco routers and switches, analyzing and mitigating DDoS attacks, and monitoring and maintaining the network. Michal also worked closely with other departments, contractors, and staff to ensure smooth network operations. Michal held this position until October 2015.
In 2015, Michal joined SecureOps as a Level 1 Network Security Analyst. Over the years, they progressed through various roles, including Level 2 Network Security Analyst and Level 3 Network Security Analyst. In June 2019, they were promoted to the position of Manager, Security Operations Center, where they played a key role in managing the security operations and team. In February 2022, they further advanced their career at SecureOps and took on the role of Director, Security Operations Center. Their responsibilities in this role include overseeing the security operations and leading the team.

Michal Kavan attended the Czech Technical University in Prague from 2013 to 2017, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Security and Information Technology from the Faculty of Information Technology. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2014, they obtained the CCNA certification from Cisco. In 2016, they achieved the CompTIA Security+ ce certification from CompTIA. In 2017, they became a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) through EC-Council. In 2018, they obtained the Splunk Certified Power User 6.x certification from Splunk, as well as the IBM Certified Associate Analyst - Security QRadar SIEM V7.2.6 certification from IBM Professional Certification. In 2019, they earned the GIAC Advisory Board certification from GIAC Certifications, as well as the GIAC Certified Forensics Analyst (GCFA) certification. In 2020, they achieved the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² and the Network Defense Professional certification from eLearnSecurity. Most recently, in 2021, they obtained the Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) certification from ISACA and the GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification from GIAC Certifications.
