Simon Chan

Simon Chan has extensive work experience in various roles within the field of data analytics and IT. Simon started their career in 2000 at Cathay Pacific Airways as an eBusiness Operations Manager. In 2003, they joined Airport Authority Hong Kong as a Systems Manager. After that, they worked at IBM as a Senior IT Architect from 2006 to 2012. Since 2012, Simon has been working at the Securities and Futures Commission, starting as a Senior Manager and subsequently being promoted to Deputy Head of Data Analytics and then to their current position as Head of Data Analytics Group.

Simon Chan obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science from The University of Hong Kong from 1986 to 1989. Simon then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1992 to 1995. In addition to their formal education, Simon has obtained various certifications in the field of machine learning and data science. Some of these certifications include "Machine Learning Engineering for Production (MLOps)" and "Machine Learning Modeling Pipelines in Production" from DeepLearning.AI in 2023, "Introduction to Machine Learning in Production" and "Machine Learning Data Life Cycle in Production" from DeepLearning.AI in 2022, and "Building a Data Science Team" from Coursera in 2022. Simon also has several Coursera course certificates in various topics such as TensorFlow, deep learning, natural language processing, and reinforcement learning, obtained between 2018 and 2021.
