Melissa Burt DeVriese

President, Secretary, & Director at Security First Insurance

Melissa has been with Security First since 2009. She currently oversees the company's operations and leads the development of strategy and corporate policy. Before serving as President, she served as General Counsel and as Chief Administrative Officer. Melissa previously worked in Washington D.C. in various legal and regulatory roles for a large national law firm, a United States Congressman, and a Presidential Appointee in the Department of Transportation. Her background in regulatory and legal matters helps guide decision-making and ensures high cooperation with state regulators.

Additionally, she is actively working with state lawmakers on impacting Florida's homeowner's insurance industry. Melissa holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown Law Center and is a licensed attorney in Florida, Washington D.C., and California. Melissa currently serves as in-coming Chair of the board of Easterseals of Northeast Central Florida, a member of the Ormond Memorial Art Museum, a board member of The Institutes and FAIR (Federal Association For Insurance Reform). She is a past president of the Junior League of Daytona Beach.
