Mustapha Sonnie

Mustapha Sonnie has extensive work experience in various roles related to public health and neglected tropical diseases. Mustapha began their career in 2002 as an HIV/AIDS peer educator trainer at GOAL Ireland and later worked as an AIDS prevention officer at the American Refugee Committee. In 2004, Sonnie joined Helen Keller International, where they held multiple positions, including program manager for neglected tropical diseases and director of neglected tropical diseases. Mustapha was responsible for coordinating programs, providing technical support, and overseeing field-level monitoring. Sonnie also represented Helen Keller International in meetings with partners during the Ebola state of emergency and managed emergency response projects. In 2020, they worked as a technical consultant for Akros, providing expertise in lymphatic filariasis and supporting the Zambia Ministry of Health's NTD program. Currently, Sonnie serves as the Country Director for Seed Global Health.

Mustapha Sonnie earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone in 1999. From 2009 to 2013, they pursued an MSc in Public Health from Leeds Beckett University.
