Sefaria, a non-profit organization dedicated to building the future of Torah in an open and participatory way, seeks a full-time Marketing & Communications Project Manager to join our mission to make Jewish texts accessible and engaging for a diverse and growing audience.

Position Overview

The Marketing Project Manager (MPM) is a full time, exempt, remote US position that provides key marketing and communications support for the team’s day-to-day operations as well as major projects and initiatives. Additionally, the MPM will serve as the project manager for all engineering needs, known as Internal Services, for the Marcom, Development, and Learning teams.

The Manager is a tenacious project lead who is equal-parts organized, detail-oriented, and creative. They bring a methodical and structured approach to keeping a busy, distributed team on task. The Manager is proficient in using technology and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

The MPM reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications and will support both the Senior Communications Manager and the Communications Specialist in their work. They will serve as the direct supervisor to the Junior Software Engineer - Internal Services.

Areas of Responsibility:

The Marketing & Communications Project Manager has four main areas of responsibility, as outlined below. Included with each area of responsibility is an approximate breakout of time.

Marketing & Communications Project Management - 60%
  • Maintain Sefaria’s communications and launch calendars, ensuring the information is accurate and that content is going out as scheduled (using Trello, Salesforce, ActiveCampaign).
  • Manage the email production process by ensuring roles and deadlines are clear.
  • Triage and field staff marketing and communications requests from other Sefaria departments.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure adherence to internal deadlines for marketing and communications projects.
  • Project manage communications and logistics for virtual events.
Project Management Process & Systems Strategy - 10%
  • Own Sefaria’s project management system, ensuring we have the right tools and are utilizing them to their fullest.
  • Ensure project management processes and systems are working effectively and efficiently.
  • Research and implement new processes and systems as needed.
  • Ensure all relevant team members receive adequate training and support in all marketing tools (Active Campaign, Trello, Formstack, Zapier, etc.) required to carry out their roles.
Internal Services Project Manager - 20%
  • Maintain internal services by planning, monitoring, and coordinating the work
  • Manage timing and prioritization of internal services requests.
  • Oversee Internal Services Engineer, providing support as needed for project management and execution.
  • Supervise for the Junior Software Engineer - Internal Services.
Administrative Duties - 10%
  • Provide general administrative support to the Marketing & Communications Department and complete other tasks as needed.

Experience, qualifications, and requirements:

Unless otherwise noted, the experience and qualifications listed below are required.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
  • A combination of relevant work experience and education to successfully perform the responsibilities outlined in this description
  • At least seven years of experience in marketing, communications, or project management.
  • At least two years of prior experience supervising others.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms (Sefaria uses Active Campaign) is preferred.
  • HTML knowledge is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience using project management software such as Trello is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in working with the technology in an online work environment including GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Trello (training will be provided, as needed).

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $77,750, depending on experience.

Location:

The Marketing Associate must be eligible to work in the US and can be based anywhere in the continental US, provided they can be available for full staff and other team meetings that take place during standard ET work hours. Sefaria has staff in Asheville, Boston, Louisville, New York, Richmond, and Washington, DC.
