Dr. Sma Zobayed

Dr. Sma Zobayed has a extensive work experience in the field of tissue culture and plant production. Dr. Sma is currently serving as the Chief Tissue Culture Officer at Segra International Corp. since April 2018. Prior to that, they held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Sma Biotech, a non-cannabis tissue culture service, starting from January 2016.

Dr. Zobayed also has experience working at JRT Nurseries and JRT Research and Development where they served as the Director of Tissue Culture Unit. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the commercial tissue culture plant production of 12 million plants per year, as well as managing the plant production system for rooting and liner production in controlled environments. Dr. Sma also provided technical expertise in designing and establishing tissue culture labs in Europe and North America.

Before joining JRT Nurseries, Dr. Zobayed worked at Emerald PlantTech as the Director of Research and Development and Manager of the Tissue Culture Production Unit from January 2008 to March 2010. Prior to that, they served as a Research Scientist and Visiting Professor at Chiba University from January 2006 to December 2007, and as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Guelph from August 2001 to December 2005.

Dr. Sma Zobayed obtained a PhD degree in Agriculture and Horticulture from the University of Hull. The duration of their studies spanned from 1993 to 2000. Additionally, they hold a PhD certification from the University of Hull in the UK, although the specific month and year of obtaining the certification were not provided.
