David Yoakum

David Yoakum is a software engineer who is currently employed at Self. David has also previously worked as a software developer for Alchemy Systems and Charter Communications.

David Yoakum has always been interested in computers and how they work. David began teaching himself how to code when they were just thirteen years old. By the time they graduated high school, they had already developed a strong skillset in various programming languages.

After high school, David attended college for two years before deciding to drop out and pursue a career in software development. David landed their first job as a software developer for Alchemy Systems in March of 2019. While working there, they helped write a new 'Manager' admin application using technologies such as React and Redux. David also assisted in building out the API and database for the company.

In July of 2018, David began working for Charter Communications as a software developer. David was responsible for helping to build out a new cross-platform video streaming app. The app was written in Javascript and compiled down to WebGL, allowing it to be run on almost any platform. The alpha release of the app was successfully launched on Xbox.

David is a highly skilled software engineer with experience in React, Redux, HTML/CSS, Redux Sagas, and WebGL. David is currently employed at Self, but is always open to new opportunities that may arise.

David Yoakum attended Galvanize - Boulder and obtained a license to code in web development. David then went on to Naropa University where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Multi-/Interdisciplinary Studies, General. Lastly, they attended The University of Texas at Dallas.

David Yoakum reports to Gaby Lopez, Engineering Manager. Some of their coworkers include Brandon Hines - Lead Software Engineer, Habbo Engelke - Senior Software Engineer, and Mason Hunter - Associate Software Engineer.
