Kelly Flentie

Senior Director of Research and Development at Selux Diagnostics

Kelly Flentie has a long history of work experience in the field of research and development. Kelly began their career in 2001 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at The University of Kansas. In 2004, they became a Graduate Student at Washington University in St. Louis, where they designed the first promoter trap assay to detect Salmonella gene activation events in response to cancer cells. In 2011, they became a Postdoctoral Associate at Washington University in St. Louis, where they developed a novel assay to screen for chemical inhibition of stress responses in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In 2015, they were a Project Manager and Consultant at The BALSA Group, where they led and managed a team of consultants conducting market research for a biotechnology startup company. Since 2016, they have been employed at Selux Diagnostics, Inc, first as a Lead Microbiologist, then as Director of Microbiology, and currently as Senior Director of Research and Development.

Kelly Flentie attended Sabetha prior to earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Microbiology from The University of Kansas between 2000 and 2004. Kelly then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology from Washington University in St. Louis between 2004 and 2011.
