Joon Woo Kim has a diverse range of work experience. Joon Woo began as a Military Interpreter for the Republic of Korea Army, serving as a liaison between the US and ROK armies. Joon Woo later worked as a Military Interpreter for the United Nations, overseeing engineering projects in Tyre, Lebanon.

In 2017, Kim enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley for a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Joon Woo studied at this institution for one year and successfully finished their studies in 2018.

Following their completion of the MEng program, Kim proceeded to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Joon Woo started this program in 2018 and is expected to conclude their studies by 2023.
