Yuen Yee Lo

Yuen Yee Lo has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Starting in 1997, they worked as a Research Assistant at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where their responsibilities included bilingual translation, Chinese/Cantonese language modeling, and building a speech-based browser system.

In 2000, Yuen Yee Lo joined LIMSI/CNRS in Paris, France, as a Research Assistant. Yuen Yee remained in this role until 2005, focusing on research in the field of speech and language processing.

Yuen Yee then worked as a Research Staff Member at IBM India Research Lab in Delhi from 2005 to 2006, contributing to research projects in natural language processing.

Yuen Yee Lo's career continued in academia, as they became an Assistant Professor at the ShenZhen Institution of Advanced Technology, China Academy of Science, HongKong-China in early 2007. However, their time in this role was short-lived as they transitioned to a Senior Research Engineer position at Nuance Communications in October 2007. During their tenure at Nuance, which ended in March 2016, they focused on research and development in speech and language processing.

From 2021 to 2022, Yuen Yee Lo worked as a Consultant at y2nlp, where they provided expertise in natural language processing and related fields.

In 2022, they furthered their knowledge and skills in data science by completing Springboard's Data Science Career Track. This comprehensive program involved over 550 hours of hands-on course material, mentoring from industry experts, and the completion of two in-depth capstone projects focused on house price prediction and music recommendation systems.

Currently, Yuen Yee Lo is employed as a Machine Learning Engineer at Sense, a position they began in June 2022.

Yuen Yee Lo completed a PhD in speech recognition at Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) from 2000 to 2005. In the same year, Yuen Yee Lo also had an internship in speech recognition at Télécom Paris.

Prior to that, Yuen Yee Lo obtained an MPhil in speech recognition from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, studying from 1997 to 2000. Yuen Yee Lo also completed a BEng in Electronic Engineering at the same university from 1994 to 1997.

In 1996, Yuen Yee Lo participated in a summer exchange program at UCLA, focusing on Economics and Journalism.

Additionally, Yuen Yee Lo completed a Data Scientist Bootcamp from Springboard, although the specific dates were not provided.
