Kara Holmes

Kara Holmes, RN, BSN, MA, currently serves as the Health and Prevention Services Manager at Sentara Healthcare since October 2019 and is also the Senior Nurse Manager for the Henrico Health District at the Virginia Department of Health since March 2016. In these roles, Kara provides leadership for comprehensive clinical services, managing programs related to public health nursing and communicable diseases. Previous experience includes serving as Intake Team Supervisor at Genworth Financial, where responsibilities included supervising medical intake teams and fostering a strong claims culture, and as CEO of OHS Consultants, establishing Occupational Health and Safety and Wellness Programs. Kara has also managed a nationally recognized wellness program at Bon Secours Health System and worked as an Occupational Health Nurse at Youville Home, focusing on health and safety initiatives. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Health Promotion and Health Education from The University of Alabama, along with advanced certifications in health promotions and worksite wellness.
