Alan Ezekowitz

Interim Chief Medical Officer at Septerna

Alan Ezekowitz is serving as Interim Chief Medical Officer at Septerna, and he’s a Venture Partner at Third Rock Ventures. He is a physician scientist, who spent the first 20 years of his career as a clinical leader in health care systems and the last 15 years leading drug development.

Prior to joining Third Rock, Alan was Co-Founder and CEO of Abide Therapeutics, which was acquired by Lundbeck Pharmaceuticals. Prior to co-founding Abide, he was a Senior Vice President at Merck responsible for the Bone, Respiratory, Immunology, Inflammation, Dermatology, and Woman’s Health franchises. Alan’s work in the biopharmaceutical industry includes current roles on the Boards of Directors of Fulcrum Therapeutics and Organon. Alan has also served on advisory boards of Vividion, Cubist, Anika, and Arris and was a co-founder of Natimmune.

Earlier in his career Alan was the Chief of Pediatric Services at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Charles Wilder Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He was Head of the Laboratory of Developmental Immunology with a focus on innate immunity. Alan received his MD at the University of Cape Town in South Africa and earned his DPhil at the University of Oxford.
