The Role

Servant is hiring a Head of PMO with extensive experience in leading a Project Management Office. This role requires strong technical project management skills to ensure successful delivery of both business and technical projects.

Responsibilities:

  • PMO Leadership and Strategic Direction: Lead the PMO to establish a center of excellence in line with PMI guidelines, quality standards, and company strategy. Ensure PMO objectives are aligned with organizational goals, delivering value through successful business and technical outcomes. Enhance and guide the PMO vision and roadmap, gaining agreement and support from all levels.
  • Project Governance and Portfolio Management: Develop and govern program and portfolio management processes, dashboards, and templates while ensuring policy and metric alignment. Oversee project, program, and portfolio execution to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Risk Management: Monitor compliance and performance, ensuring adherence to project policies and standards. Manage risks and dependencies, advancing issues and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Performance and Continuous Improvement: Set and monitor important metrics for technical and business projects, driving operational excellence. Continuously enhance project execution by integrating feedback and lessons learned into PMO processes.
  • Customer Engagement and Communication: Serve as the main contact for senior leadership and customers, communicating project risks, opportunities, and progress. Foster collaboration across teams, ensuring alignment between business and delivery on technical initiatives.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build, guide, and mentor the PMO team, ensuring proficiency in project management methodologies and standard processes. Foster a collaborative culture and support the growth of staff, facilitating technical and non-technical project delivery.
  • Technical Project Management: Take charge of end-to-end technical projects, encompassing software development, IT infrastructure, and digital transformation. Define and control project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Work closely with engineering, IT, and technical teams to deliver solutions that fulfill project requirements. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and supervise system integrations, migrations, and enhancements. Use Agile and other methodologies to manage the complete project lifecycle, from initiation to deployment.
  • Resource and Capacity Planning: Collaborate with department heads to balance team capacity and adjust priorities to meet operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Project Management, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. We also welcome applicants with an advanced degree or equivalent experience.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification required. CSM (Certified Scrum Master) or other Agile certifications including Certified Change Management Professional or similar preferred.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or PMO management role.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and system integration.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering complex technical projects, including software development and IT projects.
  • Experience in overseeing Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project management methodologies in a technical environment.
  • Proficiency with project management and technical tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Trello, Git, etc.).
  • Experience working remotely.
  • Prior consulting experience preferred.
