Principal Engineer at SES Space & Defense

Evan Swihart has a diverse and extensive background in satellite communications, with experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Evan began their career in 2003 as a Satellite Communications Technician in the US Army, where they conducted daily operations, training, reporting, and maintenance of a Medium Satellite Earth Terminal in Korea. From 2004 to 2007, they served as a Satellite Communications Systems Supervisor, overseeing the daily operations, training, and maintenance of multiple Medium and Large Satellite Earth Terminals. Evan also coordinated and implemented over 370 satellite communications missions and provided site certification training to personnel.

In 2007, Evan transitioned to the role of Tactical Satellite Communications Team Chief, where they installed, operated, troubleshot, maintained, and supervised satellite communications links using various terminals. Evan was responsible for site selection, layout, and personnel management during this time. From 2008 to 2010, they served as a Satellite Communications Systems Supervisor, conducting daily operations, training, reporting, and maintenance of Medium Satellite Earth Terminals, Spread Spectrum Multiple Access systems, and MILSTAR Command terminals. Evan also performed coordination, implementation, and troubleshooting of over 300 satellite communications missions and conducted site certification training for personnel.

In 2010, Evan joined Rome Research Corporation as a Telecommunications Technician, working alongside US Army personnel in the daily operations and maintenance of a satellite communications facility at Fort Belvoir. Evan then moved on to SES Space & Defense in 2011, where they have held multiple roles. As a Satellite Communications Engineer, they were responsible for conducting daily operations and providing customer service support for the Fort Belvoir Trojan Teleport station. Evan'sduties included planning, installing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting satellite communications and terrestrial links. Evan also coordinated and conducted testing and troubleshooting procedures, collaborated with multiple sites worldwide, and conducted training and created manuals/procedures for coworkers.

Evan's most recent role at SES Space & Defense is that of a SATCOM Implementation Engineer, where they continue to contribute their expertise in satellite communications. Additionally, in June 2021, they were promoted to the position of Principal Engineer. Overall, Evan Swihart brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in satellite communications, encompassing various technical and leadership positions throughout their career.

Evan Swihart completed their education in a chronological order. Evan first attended Riverton High School from 1995 to 2000, where they obtained their High School Diploma.

After that, they pursued an Applied Technology - Satellite Communications degree at Central Texas College from 2008 to 2009, earning an A.S. degree.

Evan then went on to study at George Mason University. From 2010 to 2013, they completed a BIS degree in Telecommunications Management.

From 2015 to 2017, Evan obtained a Master's Degree in Telecommunications and a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Networking Protocols, both from George Mason University.

In terms of additional certifications, Evan obtained the CCENT certification from Cisco in June 2013 and the CCNA Routing & Switching certification from Cisco in October 2014. Additionally, they obtained the ITIL Foundations certificate from AXELOS Global Best Practice in April 2018 and the ITIL Intermediate Certificate in IT Service Operation from the same institution in April 2019.
