George Coricor

George Coricor's work experience includes:

- Currently working as a Senior Scientist II at Shasqi since March 2022.

- Previously worked at Scholar Rock, first as a Senior Scientist I from May 2021 to March 2022, and then as a Scientist I from May 2019 to May 2021.

- Prior to Scholar Rock, George worked at Boston Children's Hospital as a Research Fellow from April 2017 to May 2019. During this time, they focused on studying the role of RUNX1 in Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Leukemia. George developed a pre-clinical model for chemotherapy-related MDS disease progression, identified new targets related to MDS, and conducted other research activities related to the field.

- Before their position at Boston Children's Hospital, George worked as a Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from April 2013 to March 2017. Their research focused on TGF-Beta signaling and its regulation of SOX9 stability in cartilage. George discovered that TGF-Beta regulates SOX9 through post-transcriptional regulation, particularly phosphorylation, and identified the importance of Serine 211 in SOX9 stability.

- George also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Seton Hall University from August 2010 to June 2012. George assisted in teaching Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology courses and completed their Master's thesis on the study of cellular responses under chemically induced Hypoxia. George obtained their Master's degree in Microbiology in August 2012.

George Coricor earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from St. John's University, completing their studies from 2005 to 2009. George then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Microbiology, General at Seton Hall University from 2010 to 2012. Following this, they attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2012 to 2017, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology.
