Nix Rust

Nix Rust is a highly experienced professional in sustainability and biodiversity management, currently serving as the Assistant Director in Sustainability at Sheffield City Council. Nix oversees strategies related to climate change, air quality, and infrastructure projects while leading nature recovery initiatives. Nix has been a Commission Member for the IUCN Climate Crisis Commission since 2016 and previously held key roles including Head of Nature Agriculture and Land at the Climate Change Committee, Nature Team Leader at UK Civil Service, and Nature Based Solutions Programme Manager at Durham County Council. Nix's work has led to impactful contributions in policy development, strategic leadership, and stakeholder engagement, particularly in addressing global environmental challenges. Nix holds a PhD in Biodiversity Management from the University of Kent and has a strong academic background in zoology and conservation biology.
