Electrical Project Engineer - Design at Shermco Industries

Jay B. has a diverse work experience in the electrical engineering field. Jay began their career at Jacobs as an Electrical EIT, where they designed power, lighting, controls, and instrumentation for commercial projects. During this time, they also gained proficiency in utilizing NEC and OSHA standards.

Jay then joined 3rd Generation Engineering, where they served as an Electrical Engineer II and later as an Electrical Engineer III. In these roles, they performed comprehensive power systems analysis, including short circuit analysis, protective device coordination, load flow studies, and arc flash incident energy calculations. Jay also conducted power factor correction and harmonic analysis. Jay worked with various industrial, oil and gas, and water/wastewater clients.

Afterwards, Jay joined Trinity Industries, Inc. as a Facilities Engineer, responsible for electrical industrial design projects and leading the electrical team for power systems analysis.

Following their time at Trinity Industries, Jay worked at Rice University as an Electrical Engineer/Project Manager in the Facilities Engineering and Planning department. Jay provided maintenance, project management, and utility operation services for the university's extensive facilities and grounds.

Jay then transitioned to Mangan Inc. as an Electrical Engineer, where they designed power distribution systems for petroleum industry projects, including medium voltage and low voltage equipment.

Currently, Jay is employed at Shermco Industries as an Electrical Project Engineer - Design. Shermco is the largest independent provider of electrical testing, maintenance, repair, commissioning, engineering, and training services in North America. In this role, Jay is involved in providing comprehensive technical services for electrical power systems and equipment.

Overall, Jay has gained experience in various aspects of electrical engineering, including design, analysis, project management, and maintenance in diverse industries such as commercial, industrial, oil and gas, and higher education.

Jay B.'s education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University.
