Sophi Turnbull

Sophi Turnbull is an experienced educator and support professional with a diverse background in teaching, social care, and community service. Currently serving as a Teacher of Chemistry, Biology, and Science at Shetland Islands Council since 2021, Sophi also holds the position of Retained Firefighter with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service since 2015. Sophi was a Support Co-Ordinator at the Moving On Employment Project from June 2017 to August 2020, where responsibilities included developing training materials on mental health awareness for local employers and providing support to enhance participants' confidence and employability. Previous experience includes working as a Social Care Worker, supporting young people with Additional Support Needs, and serving as a Cafe/Bar Assistant at Shetland Arts Development Agency. Sophi's educational qualifications include a PGDE in Secondary Teaching from UHI, along with degrees focused on supporting individuals with Autism, Health & Social Care, Forensic Psychology, and Biology. Currently pursuing further studies at The Open University, Sophi continues to enhance professional skills and knowledge in the field.
