Art Byrd

Art Byrd is Chief Financial Officer at Shields Health Care Group, managing the financial strategy, reimbursement and administration for the company as well as its joint-venture partner sub-companies. He oversees the finance, reimbursement, payer contracting and purchasing functions as well as real estate and development. Byrd is committed to the high level of integrity and transparency for which Shields is known.

Bryd joined Shields in 2021 from Fidelis Care, a subsidiary of Centene, a health plan that focuses on value-based products and quality. While at Fidelis Care, he directed all daily financial functions, built all new efficiency processes to streamline the monthly close process and improve quarterly forecasting methods, and implemented a new trend monitoring procedure that became equipped to identify medical cost trends in real time.

Before joining Shields, Byrd also worked as a consultant for Cope Health Solutions, OneCity Health, Call9, and EmblemHealth. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from St. Francis College and serves as a board member for United Neighborhood Houses in New York.
