Emma Mitchell

Director, Clinical Operations at Shionogi

Emma Mitchell, PhD, has a diverse range of work experience in both the pharmaceutical industry and academia. Emma started their career at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2010, where they completed their PhD in Pharmacology. Emma'sdissertation focused on exploring non-genetic maternal transmission mechanisms that influence offspring brain development and behavior.

In 2015, Emma joined Shionogi Inc., where they held multiple roles over the years. Emma started as a Clinical Trial Associate, providing operational support for clinical trials. Emma then progressed to the role of Clinical Trial Manager, overseeing and managing the operational aspects of phase I-IV global clinical trials. Emma was responsible for coordinating the assessment of contract research organizations (CROs) and preferred vendors and managing external partners, consultants, vendors, and budgets.

In 2018, Emma was promoted to Senior Clinical Trial Manager, demonstrating their expertise and leadership in managing clinical trials. Finally, in May 2021, they were appointed as the Associate Director of Clinical Operations, a position they currently hold at Shionogi Inc.

Emma Mitchell, PhD completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Neuroscience from Lafayette College. Emma attended Lafayette College from 2006 to 2010. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pharmacology from the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Emma completed their PhD from 2010 to 2015.
