SVP, Regions & Program Operations at U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention

K.V. Surendranath, Ph.D., serves as Senior Vice President, Regions & program operations, for USP. He is a member of USP’s executive team and provides leadership to USP’s programs and business operations in all the regions worldwide. Surendra Nath had been working with USP for over fifteen years and provides strategic leadership and execution of business with a vision and strategy with a focus on driving sustainability and Impact for USP. He oversees advancing the strategies around development of USP’s standards and growth programs in collaboration with Science division. Surendra Nath also collaborates with various functional heads within USP such as Global External Affairs, Strategy, Global Health & Manufacturing services etc. to execute the USP’s strategies in the regions, to offer broad range of Pharmacopeial services to industry and stakeholders, to develop extensive relationships with the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory agencies, the research community, and other stakeholders, which Dr. Surendranath will cultivate and extend.

Dr. Surendra Nath heads business operations of customer development, channel management, customer service and oversees the strategies to drive the customer and stakeholder centric and solution oriented strategies and establish systems enabling a good customer and stakeholder experience.

Dr. Surendranath joined USP–India as Director laboratory in January 2006, served as USP India site Head in 2009 and Head of International sites from 2014. He provided critical leadership of establishment of laboratories and diversify R&D activities. He supervised the 110,000 Sqft expansion of office and R&D laboratory space at USP’s Hyderabad site--which features laboratories capable of providing analytical services for the development of documentary and reference materials for all USP’s compendia, including Biologics Research and Synthetic Chemistry. He played a key role in the expansion of the USP–China site.

Before joining USP, Dr. Surendranath accumulated more than fifteen years of pharmaceutical industry experience in India and served in a variety of roles. He worked as General Manager for Quality Assurance and Quality Control at Matrix Laboratories, Ltd. (now Mylan), at Hyderabad, where he served for four years. As a GM of Quality division, he was responsible for establishing GMP systems at Matrix Labs and making sure of compliance to the regulatory audits such as USFDA, EDQM, WHO, TGA etc. Surendra Nath was also an ASQ’s “Certified Quality Auditor” at USP. Dr. Surendranath holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (then University of Roorkee), MBA and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry Honors.
