Ranjani Varadan

Ranjani Varadan's work experience begins with their current role as Chief Scientific Officer at Shiru, where they started in July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Science Teacher at Pvt School from August 2021 to July 2022. Before that, they held the position of VP Strategic Ingredients at Impossible Foods from January 2021 to August 2021. Ranjani also has extensive experience at Impossible Foods Inc., where they served as VP R&D from January 2019 to January 2021, Director, Protein Discovery from December 2015 to December 2018, and Senior Scientist from December 2011 to December 2015. Additionally, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Purchase College (SUNY) from January 2011 to June 2011. Ranjani also held roles as a Postdoctoral Associate at New York Structural Biology Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine from January 2007 to December 2010, a Postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine from October 2005 to December 2006, and held multiple roles as a Postdoctoral fellow and Graduate student at the University of Maryland, College Park from 2000 to 2005.

Ranjani Varadan has a diverse educational background. Ranjani started their academic journey by pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, which they completed in 1999. During the same time period, they also obtained a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from the same institution. Following this, Ranjani pursued a higher level of education and obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, where they studied from 2000 to 2004.
