Sumeet Ranka

Sumeet Ranka is an experienced Applied ML Engineer currently employed at Shopify since December 2024, focusing on empowering merchants with AI companions using Large Language Models and Python. Previously, Sumeet held the position of Senior Data and Applied Scientist at Microsoft from July 2021 to December 2024, where contributions included integrating unified embeddings for cross-product personalization and developing pipelines for user profile generation. Earlier experience includes roles as a Data and Applied Scientist at Microsoft, an Associate Researcher at Huawei, and a Machine Learning Research Intern at Phenomic AI. Sumeet also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto. Sumeet holds a Master of Science in Applied Computing from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
