Jessica Wakelyn

Jessica Wakelyn has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Jessica is currently working at Shorelight as a Curriculum Writer/Instructional Designer, where they design courses for international students and also appears as an instructor in course content videos. Jessica is also an Instructor at Shorelight, teaching English language learners online.

Prior to Shorelight, Jessica worked at English on Fire as an English Language Coach and Intercultural Communication Consultant. Jessica also founded Posh Cyclist, where they served as the Founder/Designer.

Jessica has extensive experience in education, having worked as an Instructor and Adjunct Instructor at institutions such as Virginia Commonwealth University, Northern Virginia Community College, and Virginia State University. Jessica also worked as an Instructor at Centura College and as an ESL Tutor at America Reads, Greenbrier Elementary.

Outside of the education field, Jessica served as an Assistant Director and Teacher at the Huntington Learning Center, where they were responsible for student programming, report preparation, and center management. Jessica also interned at Ash Lawn Opera as a Round Robin Intern.

Throughout their career, Jessica has demonstrated a passion for teaching, curriculum development, and instructional design.

Jessica Wakelyn's education history includes a Master of Arts degree in Linguistics from the University of Virginia, which they obtained from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University, where they studied from 2003 to 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Jessica Wakelyn has obtained certifications in Brain-Based Elearning Design and Articulate 360: Interactive Learning. Jessica acquired these certifications from LinkedIn in November 2021 and December 2021, respectively.
