Khaled El-Tahlawy

Khaled El-Tahlawy, Ph.D has extensive work experience in the field of research and development, particularly in the areas of polymer science and innovation. Khaled began their career as a Researcher at North Carolina State University, where they worked on various projects involving the development of new polymeric materials and techniques. Khaled then joined the Textile Research Division at the National Research Center, where they served as an Associate Professor and led a research group focused on developing new polymeric products for moist and antimicrobial dressings.

In 2004, Dr. El-Tahlawy returned to North Carolina State University as a Researcher in the Fiber and Polymer Science Program, where they continued their work on developing new polymer structures and methods. Khaled was involved in projects that aimed to improve the film-forming properties of chitosan and produce graft copolymers with controlled structures.

In 2011, Dr. El-Tahlawy joined Andover Healthcare, Inc. as the Technical Director of Research and Development. Here, they implemented innovative development practices across various product portfolios and managed a team of scientists. Khaled focused on delivering new product innovation in wound care, sport and medical tapes, medical bandages, and animal health. During their time at Andover Healthcare, Inc., Dr. El-Tahlawy also established quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements and collaborating with different stakeholders within the company.

Most recently, Dr. El-Tahlawy has had the role of Director of New Product Development & Innovation at Shurtape Technologies, LLC since 2017.

Khaled El-Tahlawy, Ph.D has an extensive education history. Khaled obtained their Ph.D in Organic/Polymer Chemistry from Cairo University, where they were part of the Chemistry Department, from 1994 to 1997. Prior to that, they earned their M.Sc in Chemical Technology with a focus on Polymer Chemistry from the College of Science at Helwan University from 1991 to 1994. Khaled also holds a B.Sc in Chemistry from the College of Science at Cairo University, which they completed from 1985 to 1989.

In addition to their formal education, Khaled El-Tahlawy has acquired several certifications. Khaled completed the Product & Technology Roadmapping program from RtM: Roundtable Management, the executive board in October 2019. In February 2018, they completed the Leadership Management Training Program offered by DDI | Development Dimensions International. Furthermore, in May 2012, they obtained the Tape University Advanced certificate for pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes from the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council. Prior to that, in September 2011, they completed the Manufacturing and Testing of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes certification, also from the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council. Additionally, they attended a workshop titled "Success strategies and effective teaching, Effective teaching and advising, establishing a successful research program and managing research and balance responsibilities" at NCSU, USA in August 2009.
