Alex McCarthy

Alex McCarthy is the Associate Director for Building Systems on the Mesa team at Sidewalk Labs.

He has 15 years of experience in MEP design and project management for many asset types in the built environment. Most recently, he developed acquisition due diligence and system design standards for ghost kitchens. He has worked on six continents and is hoping to deploy Mesa at McMurdo someday.

Alex was born and raised in Durham, NC, and is a graduate of the UVA School of Engineering (go Hoos) and Georgetown McDonough School of Business. When he is not working, you can find him running while listening to Bootie Mashup, supporting the Women’s Institute for Secondary Education and Research in Kenya, taking pictures of air conditioners while on vacation (his wife, in turn, takes pictures of him doing this).
