Habon Ali

Habon Ali is an Associate Director of Planning & Delivery at Sidewalk Labs, based in Toronto.

Most recently, Habon worked as an Urban Planner with the global planning and design consultancy Urban Strategies in Toronto.

Habon's professional background has encompassed multiple disciplines, including: community development, waterfront planning, and transportation planning and policy. At Urban Strategies, Habon was responsible for leading large multidisciplinary teams from planning to concept development through to approvals. Prior to becoming a planner Habon worked for the City of Toronto’s department of Economic Development and Culture, focusing on city-building events and initiatives. She also spent many years within the settlement service sector, developing strategic plans and supports to coordinate and enhance local service delivery to newcomers in Toronto.

Habon has a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science and Law & Society, an MSc in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Toronto, and is a Certified Project Management Professional. She is a former DiverseCity Fellow and member of the Emerging Leaders Network and has worked collaboratively with city leaders to collectively assess and advance proposals that integrate diverse voices into the planning process.

Habon lives in Toronto has a strong love-hate relationship with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
