Ray Mercedes

Ray Mercedes is the General Counsel at Sidewalk Labs. Prior to joining Sidewalk Labs, Ray was the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel & Chief of Staff of the Legal and Corporate Affairs department at Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America.

In his role at Univision, he served as the head corporate lawyer responsible for the legal and governance work necessary to support senior management, the Board of Directors, and its committees. He also served as Univision’s Chief Compliance Office and head lawyer responsible for matters relating to business development and executive compensation. Prior to Univision, Ray represented private equity funds, investment funds and public and private company clients in all aspects of corporate transactional practice at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

Ray received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and holds a Master of Business Administration from Boston College Carroll School of Management. He received his law degree from Boston College Law School. Ray is a proud native New Yorker (Washington Heights) who enjoys traveling, sports (especially basketball), and Latin American cuisine. He currently lives in the Bronx (Riverdale) with his three children.
