Lena Hegemann

Lena Hegemann has a diverse work experience in the field of research and AI engineering. Lena is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Aalto University, where they previously worked as a Research Assistant. Prior to that, Lena worked as a Junior AI Engineer and AI Intern at Silo.AI.

Before joining Silo.AI, Lena had internships and research assistant roles at various institutions. Lena served as a Student Intern at Aalto University, where they worked on a collaborative AI system, designing and implementing an explainability feature. Lena also worked as a Research Assistant at the Cluster of Excellence MMCI, Saarland University, where they assisted with research projects related to wearables, on skin interaction, hand gestures, and digital fabrication.

Lena gained initial research experience as a Student Intern at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, exploring the research projects of the Embodied Interaction Group. Later, they continued as a Research Assistant at the institute's Human-Computer-Interaction Lab.

Lena's work experience also includes a role as a Research Assistant at the Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI), where they worked on an industry 4.0 related web app. Additionally, they worked as an Interviewer at Gfk Enigma GmbH, a market research company specialized in media, recruiting participants for public opinion polls and conducting interviews.

Lena Hegemann's education history begins in 2013 when they attended the University of Bremen, where they studied Digital Media. After completing their studies there in 2014, they moved on to the Universität des Saarlandes, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Medieninformatik / Media Informatics, graduating in 2017. Following their undergraduate degree, Lena Hegemann enrolled in Aalto University in 2017 to pursue a Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction and Design, which they completed in 2020. Concurrently, they also attended the KTH Royal Institute of Technology from 2018 to 2020, where they earned another Master of Science in Human Computer Interaction and Design.
