Siegi Schmidmaier

Siegi Schmidmaier is the current Executive Director, SA & Strategic Development & Partnerships at Silver Chain Group. Prior to this, they were with Cell Therapies Pty Ltd and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

At Cell Therapies, Siegi was responsible for building the case and leading the creation of a new commercial genomics centre called Nexomics. Siegi also developed new strategies and business plans, such as the 2015-19 Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Strategic Directions, the prevention and wellbeing strategy that led to the creation of a Wellbeing Portfolio and a new Wellbeing Director position, and a new 12 bed palliative care unit at Peter Mac.

At Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, their responsibilities included oversight of organisation wide communications, the pathology division, innovation team, commercial developments, and international engagements. This included a team of over 200 people, budget of ~$30 million and 5 direct reports. The Peter Mac Board nominated their as their delegate to represent their interests on the Board of Cell Therapies P/L, where Peter Mac has a controlling interest.

During their time at Peter Mac, they led the establishment of a new spin out company which commercialised Peter Mac’s research intellectual property. Siegi also oversaw the introduction of a new IT system in pathology, which increased pathology financial performance by 20 per cent in two years. Additionally, they built new corporate partnerships with leading international cancer centres in the United States

Siegi Schmidmaier has a Master of Science in Public Health from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, a GAICD from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a Bachelor's degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from the University of Sydney. Siegi is also certified by the Australian Institute of Company Directors in GAICD and by AHPRA (Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) in Registered Nurse.
