Maarten Vanhalst

Maarten Vanhalst has extensive work experience in various roles related to data science, artificial intelligence, and quantitative analysis. Maarten is currently working at Silverfin as a Principal Data Scientist, where they are responsible for leading data science projects. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Product Delivery Manager at Silverfin, overseeing product development processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Maarten also has experience as a Lead AI Consultant at both Silverfin and Boltzmann, where they managed AI consulting projects from start to finish and provided coaching and supervision to other consultants. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Boltzmann, focusing on external machine learning consulting and internal product development. Earlier in their career, Maarten worked as a Quantitative Investment Researcher at KBC Asset Management and as a Quantitative Analyst at Belfius, where they developed tools and models for pricing and hedging derivatives. Maarten also completed a PhD in a related field at Ghent University. Most recently, Maarten started their own consulting business as an Artificial Intelligence Consultant.

Maarten Vanhalst obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Astronomy from Ghent University in 2008. Maarten then pursued a Master's Degree in Physics and Astronomy with a minor in Research at the same university from 2008 to 2010. Maarten furthered their education by completing a Doctor of Science degree in Physics at Ghent University from 2010 to 2014. In addition, they have obtained a certification in Bloomberg Market Concepts from Bloomberg LP.
