Ken Shiring has had a long and varied career in the tech industry. Starting in 1997, they worked as an Asst. Engineer at Annapolis Micro Systems, where they provided product test and software support for Wildforce and WildOne PCI Accelerator products. In 1998, they became an Undergraduate Researcher at Virginia Tech, where they conducted research to improve the performance of Configurable Computing machines. In 1999, they joined IBM as a Design/Verification Engineer. In 2004, they became Self-Employed as a Currency Trader, where they engaged in discretionary trading of over-the-counter Forex and automated trading of OTC stocks and Forex. In 2005, they became a Masters Researcher at USC, where they invented the Gated Multi-Level Domino circuit and conducted power, delay, and energy analysis of asynchronous circuits. In 2007, they joined Cadence Design Systems as a Senior Member of Consulting Staff. In 2012, they became Director of Core Machine Learning Technologies at Wave Computing, where they managed a small team of software engineers to build out high performance, scalable support for the Tensorflow ML framework. In 2019, they joined MediaTek as a Senior Technical Manager, where they implemented software tools for future generations of Mediatek machine learning accelerators and provided software engineering consulting. In 2022, they joined SiMa.ai as a Senior Principal Engineer, where they help guide Sima. ai's future chip architectures and applies novel ML model & algorithmic solutions to improve performance.
Ken Shiring completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech from 1994 to 1998. Ken then went on to receive a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California from 2005 to 2007.
