David Appleton

David Appleton is currently the Chief Research and Development Officer at Sime Darby Plantation. Prior to this role, David held positions such as Deputy Chief Research and Development Officer at Sime Darby Oils and Head Product Innovation & Development at Sime Darby Oils. David's expertise also includes leading departments in Biotechnology and Breeding at Sime Darby Plantation and serving as an Adjunct Professor at Monash University Malaysia. With a background in Natural Products drug discovery and a PhD in Chemistry from The University of Auckland, David has a strong foundation in research and development.
