Job Overview:   

We are seeking a Senior Data Warehouse Owner to lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our data warehouse. The ideal candidate is someone who has extensive experience designing code in systems specific to the warehouse space, likely having previously worked on a development track to development DBA, then transitioned to the Warehouse track. They will address deferred maintenance, ensure data integrity and accuracy, and optimize data feeds and integration processes. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, utilize SQL for data manipulation and analysis, and manage large data sets. The role involves backend development, ensuring data security and compliance, and treating the warehouse as a product with a clear roadmap and goals. Additionally, the candidate will establish key metrics for system health and implement necessary improvements to meet defined SLAs. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and sustain robust data warehouse solutions, building on the existing foundation while addressing deferred maintenance and driving continuous improvement. 
  • Handle the current sound but under-maintained data warehouse, ensuring it evolves with a clear and exciting roadmap of improvements. 
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the data warehouse, supporting critical business processes with an active, client-facing, and user-dependent product. 
  • Enhance data feeds and integration processes to ensure timely data availability for critical business needs. 
  • Work with various teams to gather and process data requirements, advocating for the data warehouse as a vital product. 
  • Employ SQL for data manipulation, extraction, and analysis, ensuring comprehensive data capture for analysis and monetization. 
  • Continuously monitor data warehouse performance, define SLAs, and implement necessary improvements. 
  • Manage and independently mine insights from large data sets (terabyte scale). 
  • Conduct backend development related to data warehousing to enhance functionality and performance. 
  • Uphold data security and compliance with industry standards, protecting sensitive information. 
  • Develop and execute a product roadmap and set clear goals for the data warehouse, ensuring ongoing enhancement and value delivery. 
  • Establish key metrics to monitor system health, set up alerting mechanisms, and address variances promptly. 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Sr. Warehouse Owner leading technical teams. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience working with partitioning and developing automated systems for data ingestion. 
  • Strong understanding of large data sets and data warehousing concepts with the ability to turn these large datasets into meaningful insights and product enhancements. 
  • Familiarity with user product data, shipping data, channel spend data, and monetizable data to independently assess quality. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail with ability to set priority and produce results. 
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and deliver key strategic results. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. 
  • Willing to be part of a 24/7 on call rotation and Incident Response team. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in the automotive industry or high-volume ecommerce (1 mil SKUs or more). 
  • Knowledge of data security best practices.
