Job description

Infomedia & the role

Infomedia is a leading global provider of SaaS and DaaS solutions to automotive industry. Headquartered in Australia, Infomedia has been at the forefront of vehicle and customer lifecycle system innovation for more than 30 years. We develop online parts selling systems, service quoting and inspection solutions, data analysis, predictive marketing and eCommerce solutions to help our OEM and Dealer customers grow sales and elevate customer experience.

Our data-driven software solutions are used each business day by over 250,000 dealership personnel, to manage the vehicle and customer lifecycle – they are produced in more than 40 languages and at work in 186 countries. Their powerful search functions and intuitive, user-friendly interface helps boost efficiency, profitability and customer retention for OEM Parts and Service Departments.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Data Integrations Developer to build, manage, and maintain the data import processes which intake and integrate new/updated auto and motorcycle parts information into our core normalized product catalogs. These processes are built using a mix of DTS, SSIS, SQL scripts and custom stand-alone tools which together intake and scrub terabytes of data (millions of part numbers) each month. You will own, build, automate and manage these systems.

Incoming product information comes to us in a variety of database formats, many of which are not mainline systems in popular use. In some cases we have built tools (C, VFP, etc) which access database files at a low-level to read and extract information – in others, low level MS-SQL operations or ODBC does the work for us. You will have an opportunity here to work with many different database systems, and to use your programming experience to explore the underlying engineering of new database systems and build tools to manipulate data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Catalog Data Ingestion
  • A core part of our business is consuming catalog information from many sources, and synthesizing that information into a scrubbed, normalized catalog of every part for every vehicle ever made.
  • Complex data arrives in native formats (arcane, one-off systems nobody has ever heard of) and processes we’ve created ingest that data and manipulate it into our normalized form.
  • This includes automated scrubbing, normalization and quality control - and is based in a module-oriented ingestion architecture.
  • These processes are each thousands of lines of complex code, responsible for nuanced adjustments of incoming data - all of which must run at high speed, to allow for frequent (often daily) catalog updates.
  • Maintain a manifest and use it to manage and prioritize the backlog of catalog data, ensuring timely processing and integration.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop solutions.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, resolving issues promptly.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data pipeline processes and workflows.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and automotive technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of fundamental Database Architecture concepts, and the ability to apply those concepts toward understanding and integration work with novel database systems.
  • Familiarity with validating EPC systems based on automotive understanding.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
