Mike Schafer's work experience includes a variety of roles in different industries. Mike started their career as a Lead Editor at Teach Yourself Soccer from 2005 to 2008. Mike then worked as a Videographer at Moonlight Film & Video Productions from 2005 to 2009. In 2008, they were a Production Assistant at Cloverland Productions.
In 2010, Mike had an internship at The Dining Room at the Langham Hotel, where they gained experience in preparing and firing different components of Garde Manger station dishes. From 2009 to 2011, they worked at Sur La Table, starting as a Sales Associate and later becoming a Sales Floor Lead. Mike then served as an Assistant Store Manager, coordinating store operations and leading employees to meet corporate expectations.
From 2013 to 2014, Mike worked as a Resident Chef at Sur La Table, overseeing a hands-on cooking class business and managing a team. In 2014, they became a Sous Chef at The Ranch at Live Oak Malibu, where they developed and served vegan, gluten-free, soy-free meals that met strict nutritional requirements and managed relationships with vendors.
Starting in 2015, Mike worked at Schafer Fine Foods LLC as a Personal Chef, preparing meals within clients' nutritional requirements and serving meals for parties and events. In 2016, they became a Community Volunteer at Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter, counseling potential adopters, conducting adoption interviews, and shadowing potential volunteers.
Most recently, Mike worked at SimplePractice as a Customer Onboarding Lead starting in 2018.
Mike Schafer earned an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts/Chef Training from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts-Pasadena in 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Radio, Television, and Film from California State University, Fullerton in 2004.
