Chief Nursing Officer & VP, Patient Care Services at Sinai Chicago

Jean Barrett Blake, RN, BSN, MJ, serves as the System Vice President for Patient Care Services for Sinai Health System. In this role, Jean will collaborate with the system CNO to provide executive leadership over nursing and clinical practice for both Mount Sinai and Holy Cross Hospitals. Jean is responsible for guiding improvements in clinical care delivery, patient/provider experience, and furthering nurse manager development.

Jean has over 40 years of nursing experience, with 35 years of nursing management and healthcare operations expertise. Prior to joining Sinai, Jean served as Interim CNO and VP of Patient Care Services for Trinity Mount Carmel East in Columbus, Ohio. She spent three years as the System Chief Nursing Officer for University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio where she was responsible for nursing practice and patient experience for an independent delivery network of 18 facilities, ranging from an academic anchor to critical access hospitals and acute rehabilitation providers.

Jean is a Chicago native and began her nursing career at Mercy Hospital in the ICU. She worked at University of Chicago Medicine for many years and as Vice President, Patient Care Services for Presence Health, now part of the Amita network.

Jean has extensive experience in healthcare operations, improving throughput, and redesigning patient care delivery. She focuses on quality, patient safety and experience and enjoys mentoring fellow nurses and emerging leaders.
