Senior Director Of Operations at Singapore Clinical Research Institute (SCRI)

Eugene Gan has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Eugene currently holds the position of Senior Director of Operations at the Singapore Clinical Research Institute. Prior to this, Eugene served as the Acting Chief Scientific Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC), where they provided oversight to the EDDC Drug Discovery functional groups and led the initiative to establish the EDDC Academic Research Organisation. Eugene also held the role of Chief Operating Officer at the Experimental Biotherapeutics Centre, A*STAR.

Before joining EDDC and A*STAR, Eugene worked at A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, where they served as the Deputy Director in the PharmBio Cluster of the Biomedical Research Council and in the Early Career Researchers Office. Eugene also gained experience as a Business Development Manager at the BIomedical Sciences Industry Partnership Office in Singapore.

Additionally, Eugene worked as a Research Scientist at Lilly Singapore Centre for Drug Discovery, where they led a team in target validation and development of assays for epigenetic oncogenic targets. Eugene started and drove two projects into portfolio status during their time there.

Eugene's early work experience includes being a Research Associate at Indiana University Bloomington Medical Sciences, where they managed a lab and conducted research on the molecular mechanisms of a microtubule-destabilizing enzyme.

Throughout their career, Eugene has demonstrated strong leadership skills and expertise in drug discovery and development.

Eugene Gan holds a Ph.D in Molecular Cancer Biology from Duke University, which they obtained between 2001 and 2007. Prior to this, they completed a Master of Science in Biochemistry at Indiana University Bloomington between 1996 and 1999. Eugene's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (Honors) at Indiana University Bloomington, where they studied from 1992 to 1996.
