Lambo Kanagaratnam

VP, Optus Networks at Optus

Lambo is the Acting Managing Director of Networks and is responsible for Optus mobile and fibre deployment for the Optus network across Australia.

Lambo brings to his role over 18 years of telecommunication industry experience. He has an excellent track record as a technology leader with extensive knowledge in telecommunications networks strategy, design, engineering, operations and rollout across multiple countries and operating companies.

Prior to joining Optus, Lambo held several senior roles over a 15-year period with MTM in Africa and the Middle East. This included tenures as both Chief Enterprise Business Officer and Chief Technology Officer at MTN South Africa between 2010 and 2014. He was also Chief Technology Officer of MTN Irancell in Iran between 2009 and 2010.

Lambo holds Bachelor of Science, and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

While Lambo is of Sri Lankan heritage, he grew up in South Africa and now lives in Sydney with his family. In his spare time, he enjoys watching sports, especially basketball and soccer. He’s also passionate about coaching and playing both games.
