Anniek Barnhoorn

Anniek Barnhoorn is a Policy & Projects Officer at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) since February 2024, focusing on SIPRI's Major Initiatives. Previously, Anniek served as a Research Analyst at SIPRI's Climate Change and Risk Programme from October 2019 to February 2024, conducting research and providing policy advice on climate-related security risks. Anniek's experience also includes a role as a Board Member and Track Leader at The West Wing Think Tank from October 2017 to September 2019, where work involved policy questions on multilateral trade and youth participation in foreign policy. Additionally, Anniek was a member and secretary of the United Nations Working Group at the Dutch National Youth Council from September 2017 to August 2018. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in International Development Studies from Wageningen University & Research, and a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Leiden University College The Hague.
