Satellite Analytics Team Lead at Sixense Group

Joan Sala Calero has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. They started their career at TRE ALTAMIRA as a Senior Software Engineer, specializing in InSAR image processing and geospatial data visualization. They worked on several EU/FP7/ESA projects and collaborated with CLS/Mercator for the Copernicus Marine service.

Following that, Joan joined Deltares as a Data Scientist, focusing on water management. They were responsible for developing APIs and web applications for handling geospatial water information, earth observation, and climate datasets. They also worked on multiple EC funded projects (H2020).

Later on, Joan worked at Barcelona Supercomputing Center as a Data Scientist, specializing in climate data. They focused on utilizing their skills to analyze and process climate data.

Joan then joined Leonard, where they were a part of the VINCI Leonard AI program, which involved implementing artificial intelligence into various sectors of VINCI.

Currently, Joan works at SIXENSE GROUP as the Satellite Analytics Team Lead, where they oversee the team responsible for satellite analytics.

Additionally, Joan has also joined the European Environment Agency as a Project Coordinator for the EGMS Validation project, leading a consortium for the independent validation of the European Ground Motion Service within Copernicus Land.
