Dennis JL Siedlak, Ph.D.

Founder and CTO at Slip Robotics

Dennis JL Siedlak, Ph.D. has extensive work experience, beginning in 2009 as a Medical Device Manufacturer and CAD Design Engineer at Southside Biotechnology. In 2010, they were a LERCIP Summer Intern at NASA Glenn Research Center, followed by a Process Control Summer Intern at Skrl Die Casting in 2011. From 2012 to 2017, they were an Aeronautics Academy Research Assistant at NASA Glenn Research Center, and from 2012 to 2018 they were a PhD Candidate Investigating Concurrent Vehicle and Manufacturing Systems Design at the Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory at the Georgia Institute of Technology. During this time, they developed a Python-based simulation data analytics environment to be transitioned to the Department of Homeland Security to support counter-terrorism efforts, leveraged concepts from their Ph.D. dissertation to develop a scheduling system for satellite ground contacts to support antenna architecture trade studies, and contributed to a winning DHS project proposal. In 2017, they began working as a Space Systems Engineer at The Aerospace Corporation, where they supported Air Force enterprise-level space system acquisition planning through schedule data aggregation and manipulation, developed agent-based simulation leveraging GIS information from Open Street Map to support military utility analysis for the NRO and USAF, and researched autonomous transportation routing and scheduling via integer programming. In 2018, they became a Founding Engineer at Volley Automation, and in 2020 they began working as a Systems Engineer at Waymo and as a Founder and CTO at Slip Robotics.

Dennis JL Siedlak, Ph.D. attained a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University between 2008 and 2012. Dennis JL then went on to pursue higher education at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Master of Science in Aerospace Systems Design in May 2014, and a Ph.D. in December 2016.
