Ekta Sareen

Head Of Economic Incentives at Smart DCC

Ekta Sareen has extensive work experience in the fields of regulatory economics and pricing. Ekta started their career at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) as an Energy Prices Analyst, where they played a leading role in the development of the quarterly energy prices publication. Ekta then moved on to Brunel University as a Scholarship Campaign Supervisor, managing a team and creating incentives to meet fundraising targets.

Sareen then joined the Office of Rail and Road as an Economist, where they reviewed and analyzed Network Rail's price control submissions, managed contractual implementation, and played a leading role in the development of track access charging policy. Ekta then transitioned to Network Rail as a Regulatory Economist, contributing to the development of the regulatory and charging framework for on-train metering and coordinating income forecasts for price control submissions.

After their time at Network Rail, Sareen joined Smart DCC as a Regulation Manager. In this role, they were responsible for developing a new regulatory framework for smart meter communications, leading the review of financial incentive frameworks, and creating aspects of the financial framework. Ekta also served as the Head of Regulatory Finance and Pricing and the Pricing and Insight Manager at Smart DCC before taking on their current position as the Head of Economic Incentives.

Ekta Sareen completed their undergraduate education from 2003 to 2007 at Brunel University London, where they obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Economics. In 2015, they pursued further education at The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, where they earned a Diploma in Management Accounting through the CIMA Diploma program.
