Sean Golden has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and analytics. Sean is currently working at SmartBiz as the VP of Data Science. Prior to that, they worked at Meta as a Data Science specialist in the area of civic integrity, where they developed innovative methods to secure elections and contributed to strategies for safeguarding elections at both US and international levels. Sean also collaborated with cross-functional teams to develop effective detection methodologies and policies in the civic and health domains.
Before joining Meta, Sean was the Data Science Lead at Marqeta, Inc, where they led a team of Data Scientists in improving internal products and providing insights to partners in the global payments space. Sean leveraged modern machine learning techniques and causal inference to build actionable productionalized software in areas such as fraud, customer analytics, and forecasting.
Prior to Marqeta, Sean worked at McKinsey & Company as a Specialist in Americas Advanced Analytics. Sean helped clients solve business challenges through analytics, focusing on demand forecasting, pricing, marketing mix modeling, and customer segmentation using causal-based inference.
Sean also has experience working at Sears as a Manager of Pricing Analytics, where they applied magnetic, agile, and deep analysis techniques to support pricing decisions and member analytics. Sean also built a self-serve analytics and modeling application using technologies such as AngularJS, R, and JBoss.
Sean began their career as a Research Professional at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where they worked before joining Sears. Sean also worked as a Consultant at Citadel Investment Group and as an Intern at McCarthy Group, Inc.
In terms of their education, Sean completed the J.D. Edwards Honors Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Sean also holds a Fulbright Graduate Fellowship from the U.S. Department of State, where they conducted research and taught economics in Chisinau, Moldova, while investigating cultural influences on decision making and risk preferences.
Sean Golden has a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Computer Science, Finance, and Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Sean pursued a Master's Degree in Experimental Economics and Decision Making at the University of Chicago from 2009 to 2010.
