Peter Barden has over 30 years of experience in communications, public affairs, and government relations. Peter began their career in 1990 as a Sergeant in the United States Army Reserve. In 1996, they became the Chief of Staff/Director of the Committee on Energy and Telecommunications for New York State Senator Jim Wright. In 1999, they were appointed Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs for New York Governor George E. Pataki. In 2001, they became the Senior Vice President of the New York Power Authority, where they directed media relations, internal corporate communications, community outreach, local, state and federal governmental affairs, licensing, and environmental compliance divisions. In 2004, they joined Mercury as Managing Director, providing high-level strategic communications advice and managing integrated public affairs campaigns and crisis communications efforts for top U.S. corporations and nonprofits. In 2006, they were appointed Managing Director of The Seaport Group LLC. In 2013, they became the Director of Communications and Operations at the Online Lenders Alliance. In 2014, they joined Rational 360 as a Partner and Edward Conard as Communications Strategist and Chief of Staff. In 2021, they were appointed Vice President of Communications for SMBX, a financial marketplace that connects qualified small business owners with everyday investors.

Peter Barden attended Colgate University from 1989 to 1993.
