Susie King

Executive Director, Consulting at Social Ventures Australia

Susie is an Executive Director in the Consulting team, providing functional expertise in the areas of strategy, business planning, service design and scaling, as well as leading SVA’s family violence practice. She has more than 20 years of experience working as a strategy consultant in Australia a, nd overseas across the public, private and social sectors. She also has deep knowledge and client relationships in the justice, mental health, child and family services, and philanthropic sectors, and has worked on a number of high-profile projects, including the development of Lifeline Text, Australia’s first mental health and suicide prevention text-based counseliseveral the case for investment in early intervention in the Victorian child protection system for Berry Street, and other leading agencies in the child and family services sector.

Susie joined SVA as a Director in the Consulting team after more than 15 years overseas working as a consultant for McKinsey & Company in London and the United States. Prior to joining McKinsey in Melbourne, Susie worked as a solicitor in a large corporate firm and as a policy advisor for two Health Ministers in the VicBeforeovernment. As a consultant in McKinsey’s London office, Susie led projects in the energy, retail, and not-for-profit sectors as well as a secondment in the Prime Minister’s office working on long-term strategic challenges for the UK government. In the US, Susie managed projects in McKinsey’s Advanced Healthcare analytics practice addressing the implications for payor and provider clients of US health care reform.

Susie also has served on the board of a major public teaching hospital and is currently a non-executive director of Trinity College at the University of Melbourne. Susie holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Melbourne as well as a BA in History and Fine Art. Susie is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
