Dirk-Jan Steehouwer

Dirk-Jan Steehouwer has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Dirk-Jan began their career in 1992 with BDO as part of their practical training program. Dirk-Jan then joined Deloitte in 1994, starting as an Assistant Accountant and eventually becoming a Manager in their MKB practice. During their time at Deloitte, they worked with small and medium-sized businesses across various industries, handling auditing, financial reporting, and tax matters.

In 2004, Steehouwer transitioned to BMW, where they served as a Financial Controller. In this role, they oversaw the financial administration of multiple dealer locations, a collision repair company, a car rental business, and several holding companies. Dirk-Jan was responsible for monthly closing entries, analyzing transaction results, and preparing monthly reports for BMW Netherlands.

From 2006 to 2007, Steehouwer worked at Delta Lloyd Asset Management as a Reporting Medewerker. Here, they played a project management role in the construction and implementation of the Delta Lloyd Group Consolidation system, which facilitated faster access to investment positions and related reports. Thanks to this project, reporting time was reduced from 15 days to just 3 days.

In 2007, Steehouwer joined Van Duyn Van der Geer B.V. as an AA Accountant and Advisor. Dirk-Jan primarily worked with passion-driven small and medium-sized businesses, providing accounting services and serving as a Compliance Officer and Quality Controller in compliance with AFM and SRA regulations. Additionally, they pursued their passion for nature and wildlife photography, traveling around the world to capture the beauty of our planet. In this regard, they also worked as a freelance photographer for Werk aan de Muur.

In 2015, Steehouwer took on a freelance role as an Artist at Society6, showcasing their creative talent outside of accounting and photography. Dirk-Jan subsequently worked as a Reisbegeleider (Travel Guide) for Unico Travel, leading nature and wildlife photography trips, and as an AA Accountant-medewerker at WEA Gouda Accountants & Adviseurs.

Currently, Steehouwer continues to pursue their passion for photography by running their own company, Dirk-Jan Steehouwer Photography. Dirk-Jan Steehouwer completed their AA degree in Accountancy from De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences from 1989 to 1993. Dirk-Jan then pursued a Certificerende bevoegdheid AA at SROAA from 1994 to 1995. Prior to their higher education, Dirk-Jan attended Middelbare school Leeuwenhorst for their VWO studies.
