Miguel Solano

Research Scientist at Sofar Ocean

Miguel Solano has a diverse work experience in research and teaching roles. Miguel is currently a Research Scientist at Sofar Ocean since June 2023. Miguel has previously worked as a Research Associate at The University of Southern Mississippi from April 2020 until June 2023, where they worked on a project funded by the Office of Naval Research. Prior to that, they were an NRC Research Associate at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory from April 2018 until April 2020. Miguel also worked as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Dallas from August 2013 until December 2017, and as a Research Assistant at the University of Puerto Rico from August 2012 until July 2013. Miguel was also a Capstone Project member at Amgen from January 2012 until May 2012. In this role, they achieved significant energy savings by replacing refrigerants with excess cool water.

Miguel Solano holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, which they obtained in 2012. Miguel then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas from 2013-2015. Miguel continued their education at The University of Texas at Dallas and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from 2013-2017.
