Zachary Crockett is an experienced technology professional with a career spanning over 15 years. Zachary is currently working as the Principal Firmware Engineer at Sofar Ocean, leading the firmware team for connected Spotter buoys to better manage climate change and preserve oceans. Prior to this role, they worked as the Head of IoT at Tango Tango for 8 months. Zachary founded Hardline and Particle, where they served as the CTO for both companies before leaving Particle in March 2020. Zachary has also served as a Board Member for Zeitgeist and worked as the Owner of Hypergolic Motion, LLC, providing application development and IT consulting. Zachary has worked in various technical roles, including Full Stack Developer for Apruve, Chief Technical Officer for Residential Science Resources, and Developer for Minneapolis Art on Wheels. Zachary started their career as an Instructional Technology Fellow at the University of Minnesota.
Zachary Crockett has an extensive education history in music composition and computer science. Zachary obtained their Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition from Vanderbilt University in 2000 and their Master of Music degree in Music Composition from The Johns Hopkins University in 2004. Zachary then went on to complete their PhD in Music Composition and Computer Science at the University of Minnesota between 2004 and 2012. In addition to their formal education, Zachary has obtained several certifications in the field of quantum computation, including an IBM Certified Associate Developer designation, achieved in January 2023, as well as a Quantum Challenge Achievement and a Quantum Fundamentals certificate obtained in 2022.
